A PROMINENT retail outlet with development potential, opposite one of Victoria’s most famous “giant” tourist attractions, has hit the market. The 1342 square metre Abby’s Bargain Centre furniture outlet, set on 3.5 hectares next to the Giant Worm, on the Bass Highway, is being sold with vacant possession, and is expected to fetch between $1.8 million and $2 million. LJ Hooker Frankston selling agent Geoff Smith says millions of vehicles pass the site every year. The sale includes a near new Victorian style home.
The Giant Worm is one of a several “big” tourist attractions dotted throughout the country, mostly in regional and rural areas. Other big Victorian things include the World’s Largest Rolling Pin in Wodonga, The Big Pheasant in Tynong, and the Big Koala, between Horsham and Stawell. Queensland has – amongst other things - a “big” barramundi, cane toad, golf ball, gumboot, paperclip, sausage and spanner. New South Wales also has several of the oversized tourist attractions, including bizarrely, a “giant” Uluru.
