Olympic Medallist Matt Welsh Sells Port Melbourne Home

Matt had once intended to live in the 3-bedroom property, around the corner from the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Pool. But that was before he became part of the Newton family empire – and moved to the leafy eastern suburbs closer to in-laws Bert and Patti.

The large terrace home, at 204 Clark Street, included formal and informal living areas, front and rear landscaped gardens and a second story balcony with city skyline views. It failed to sell at a scheduled auction last Saturday, but was registered as sold by Monday. The property was marketed by Cayzer Real Estate.

Matt isn’t the only member of the Newton clan dabbling in real estate trading. His father-in-law, television veteran Bert Newton, recently put his Canterbury home on the market, in a deal expected to fetch him more than $1.35 million.

That property, being marketed by Jellis Craig, is set to be auctioned Saturday August 18.
