Lang Walker Takes Low Density Road For Last Piece of Kew Cottages Site

Walker is redeveloping the site as Main Drive Kew. A public housing component has been developed as part of the agreement to obtain a balance of land formerly controlled by the government.

 

A series of controversies plagued Walker Corporation since it agreed to redevelop the site in 2005 – related to donations to the ALP, through to claims promised features in the estate were not built.

In 2008 it was reported high end fixtures and fittings promoted to off-the-plan buyers may have been replaced with cheaper items during construction.

Elsewhere in Madden Grove, Kew recently, residents made the extraordinary decision to purchase an imposing former school from Melbourne University, demolish it, and sell off subdivided blocks to prestigious home builders. Some information about that project is here:
