Australian Residential Rental Vacancies on the up as Supply of Stock Surges

Vacancy levels rose in all capitals except Darwin last month.

Supply of new stock, along with a low interest rate environment that convinces renters to buy, is affecting vacancy rate levels. Some suspect that as interest rates rise, landlords will pass those increases to tenants, who have elected not to buy their own property.
