The Block Richmond plans revealed

Producers of hit TV show The Block will effectively rebuild four Richmond homes which will be the subject of the next series.

The rundown single-storey dwellings between 37-43 Cameron Street sold last year and settled in February – which is when redevelopment applications were lodged.

The former owner had obtained a permit to replace the dwellings with a three level, 16-unit apartment complex.

Instead, the Channel Nine TV show will renovate them.

Three homes are single-fronted and have been approved for a second storey.

The other residence is twice the width and permitted for a rear extension. This property is also on a bigger parcel of land than the rest.

In The Block, teams renovate homes using sponsors’ products.

The winner is the contestant who’s home sells for the most over a reserve.

This series will be the first time that players renovate houses – previously the show focused on Sydney apartments. It has filmed at Bondi, Manly and Vaucluse.
