Melbourne’s prestige residential market seems to be going from strength to strength, with the sale yesterday of 774 Orrong Road in Toorak for $7.8 million.
An as-yet undisclosed business identity purchased the property, which includes a tennis court, pool, spa, landscaped garden and oversized 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom Charleston-style home with six massive living rooms.
The home was offloaded by director of advertising firm Clemenger Communications, Hylton Mackley and his wife Eileen. Located at the quiet end of Orrong Road, the property is near the mansion John Elliott famously sold for $11.3 million in 2003, without telling his now ex-wife.
The Mackleays bought the property 20 years ago for $1.4 million.
“The property is one of the most complete and well balanced large family homes to be put on the market in the last six months,” said Kay & Burton’s Andrew Baines who sold the marketed the property. “A lot of people who inquired on the property said that they have admired the home for years.”
