The Living End lead singer Chris Cheney has proved he is a “Prisoner of Society”– snapping up a luxury apartment in Society, a new high rise apartment block to be built in ultra trendy South Yarra.

Cheney, who is guitarist and lead singer for the award winning Australian rock band, is believed to have paid more than $500,000 for a 2-bedroom apartment in the 12-level, 242-unit project which only started marketing last month.

The Living End coined the youth anthem “Prisoner of Society” in 1998, later scoring hits with Second Solution and All Torn Down. The band has since received recognition abroad, playing tours and festivals such as the Warped Tour in the US and Reading and Leeds Festival in the UK.

Society is the latest brainchild of fund manager ISPT and boutique developer Hamton.  To be built on a block bound by Bray, Simmons and Ellis Streets in South Yarra, Society will include its own outdoor cinema, as well as a well being centre, bars, restaurants – and a residents-only rooftop which will include a library, gymnasium, outdoor terrace and hydro pool.
