Young , beautiful and filthy rich, their life has been described as perfection with a capital P.
And now, glamour couple Simon and Allison Strapp, with their four children and dog Rupert, will bring that perfection to Toorak – forking out an estimated $11 million for the Lansell Road mansion recently offloaded by Wellcom Group chief executive Wayne Sidwell.
Simon Strapp, son of car dealer Terry Strapp, is finance director with The Promotions Factory marketing company. He has made a habit of buying ripe-for-renovation homes in blue ribbon suburbs, and has worked for the last six years turning around two Portsea projects including his most recent, a 9-bedroom cliff top mansion sources say he will retain.
His new Lansell Road home – a double story 5-bedroom plus study mansion with two street frontages - includes an inground pool and large front and rear gardens both easily able to accommodate a tennis court. A bit tired in style, sources say the home will undergo a full renovation.
On its eastern border, the property backs onto one of Toorak’s earliest mansions, Toorak House (now known as the Swedish Church of Victoria) – the home which gave the suburb its name in 1848.
On its northern border however, is an imposing block of flats which will make the Strapp family feel somewhat more confined than they do in Portsea, where the blue waters of Port Phillip Bay is their living room backdrop.
