The distinctive Yve apartment project on St Kilda Road has won the 2006 Victorian Architect Medal, in a ceremony held on Friday night at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Wood Marsh Architects was praised for its imaginative design and use of unique building techniques and materials. Chair of Juries for the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Peter Maddison said "the Yve Apartments is a breathtakingly simple and significant contributor to the multi unit apartment building type."

Yve was developed by the Queensland-based Sunland group, who gained recognition for developing the first Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast. The luxury resort is understood to be the accommodation choice for celebrities including Paris Hilton and sporting personalities Harry Kewell and Grant Hackett.

Yve was the overall winner out of 153 entrants.
