The historic Woodend homestead disgraced businessman Richard Pratt and wife Jeanne used as a weekender in the 1980s has been sold to an as yet undisclosed restaurant operator for about $6.2 million.
Built in the 1920s, Campaspe House, now an award winning hotel, restaurant and convention centre was put to the market last year by restaurateurs Milton and Liz Collins, who owned the property since 2002.
The Pratt’s owned the 13 hectare property in the Macedon Spa region, about 75 kilometres north-west of the CBD until 1988 when it was then sold to a business operator.
CB Richard Ellis senior negotiator Simon Dal Zotto, who marketed Campaspe House, said demand for the property was strong, adding the new owners plan to retain the property in its current use.
