AGENTS expect ground-floor rentals of a high $6000 a square metre for a Bourke Street Mall shop across the road from Myer's main entrance.

Clothing retailer Jeans West has used the 363 sq m double-storey building, at the corner of Royal Arcade, as its flagship city store. The retailer has three other stores in the city, including its newest outlet at DFO on Spencer Street.

According to Kliger Wood leasing agent Grant McKenzie, several new leases have been signed recently in the Bourke Street Mall, which is regarded as Melbourne's most expensive retail strip.

Clothing retailer Supre recently leased part of the old Katie's building at 284 Bourke Street, while ANZ bank recently leased the former Dunklings store at 325 Bourke Street, at rental estimated to be about $5800 a square metre.
