Something about a boutique apartment block built into a bluestone church in St Kilda continues to attract Melbourne's entertainment industry.
The iconic block, near the corner of Acland Street at 188 Barkly Street has reputedly been home to actor Health Ledger and singer Tina Arena. Stage and screen team Rachael Beck and Ian Stenlake, above, have also called the property home but after a move to Sydney some years ago, have decided to sell.
The art deco apartment has two bedrooms, a modern kitchen and a large open-plan living and dining room opening on to a balcony. It overlooks a gothic church many St Kilda visitors wouldn't know was there.
Beck started on TV in the late 1980s - but spent most of her career has been in musical theatre. She was nominated for a Mo Award for her performance of Singing in the Rain. She recently starred in the Sydney Theatre Company's production of Summer Rain.
Husband Ian Stenlake is an actor and musical theatre performer, most recognised for his role as Oscar Stone in TV's Stingers that was filmed in Melbourne.
Hocking Stuart selling agent John Carter expects the property to fetch more than $360,000 when it is auctioned at 11.30am on Saturday, March 31.
