Christina Aguilera’s been there. So has comedian Magda Szubanksi and sportsman Stuart MacGill.
Rumour has it Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz booked a table when they were last in town, but had to cancel when they realised it didn’t have a helicopter landing pad.
The Mt Rael Retreat in Healesville sits on 11.5 acres near the Healesville town centre, and is nestled between about 70 Yarra Valley wineries, the Healesville Sanctuary and the Tarrawarra Estate Art Gallery - Australia’s largest contemporary art collection donated by philanthropists Marc and Eva Besen.
Current owners Sean Lee and John Knoll sold three successful Melbourne restaurants to buy Mt Rael in about 2003, before undertaking an extensive renovation and up-classing the menu.
Mt Rael includes a 120-seat restaurant and six accommodation suites, and will be sold with a permit for a further 30 guest rooms, corporate meeting and seminar rooms.
Gross Waddell sales executive Michael Spektor is marketing the property and expects it to sell for between $2.4 million and $2.6 million.
