THE young entrepreneur behind the hugely successful Moonlight Cinema business, James Tutton, is turning his hand to property development.

The media and entertainment guru pioneered the open-air cinema business throughout Australia, eventually selling it to ASX-listed group Becker Entertainment two years ago in a deal said to be worth about $8.3 million.

Nowadays, Tutton ties himself with boutique property developer Neometro, with the first of several joint ventures being announced this month at 10 Darling Street in South Yarra. The development includes 12 apartments, each with a six-star energy rating.

"My focus in business has always been about working with brands," says Mr Tutton. "What Neometro offers apartment buyers is unique and clearly segments them from the more mass product."

Neometro's best-known development is the Luxe building on Inkerman Street in St Kilda, whichwon the Royal Australian Institute of Architects national award for commercial architecture in 2000.
