The Wyndham Council is expected to approve the name Williams Landing, as Melbourne’s newest suburb at a meeting on Monday May 14.

The suburb affects 680 acres of land formerly owned by the Royal Australian Air Force, until this week, addressed as Laverton. The suburb intersects with Point Cook to the south, Hoppers Crossing to the west, Truganina to the north and Laverton to the east.

Developer Cedar Woods purchased the site last year, and is contributing to a $1 billion spending spree, which is hoped to see the project become Melbourne’s version of Sydney’s Parramatta.

The State Government is behind the project, awarding the land Major Activity Status as part of the Melbourne 2030 policy.
