COMEDIAN and actress Mary Coustas sold her beachfront apartment before a scheduled auction last weekend, for an undisclosed amount believed to be around $660,000.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom fully renovated apartment is on the third floor of one of St Kilda's earliest high-rise apartment blocks at 8 Upper Esplanade, and has uninterrupted views over Port Phillip Bay. Century 21 selling agent Jutta Rubinstein said the property was snapped up in the first week of marketing, but declined to confirm a price.
She said another apartment, renovated by the same architect, Norman Day, and on a skyrise level of the Upper Esplanade building, is on the market and is expected to fetch around $715,000.
Coustas rose to fame in the early 1990s as Effie, a second-generation Greek Australian, in television's Acropolis Now and then Greeks on the Roof in 2003. It's believed she is moving locally.
