Good Guys Andrew Muir Pays $17.75 Million for Steve Vizard's Orrong Road Mansion

INSIDERS are all but certain the mystery buyer of Steve Vizard's Orrong Road mansion is Good Guys electrical retailer Andrew Muir. Early speculation was that the house had been bought by Peter Edwards of the Smorgon family but he has vehemently denied this. Mr Muir is overseas and unavailable for comment.

The surprise purchase, and record $17.75 million price, set tongues wagging in Toorak this week.

All eyes now turn to the Stonington mansion in Malvern, which is expected to sell off-market for a similar, possibly higher price.

Stonington slipped from public to private hands after Deakin University, which was given the property in the early 1990s by Stonnington Council, sold it to a private developer in a deal settled on Christmas Eve last year.
