The directors of prestige home builder Glenneagles Homes, Glenn and Jennifer Eagles, won’t have to travel far to work, after paying more than $3.1 million for a home they plan to demolish, in one of Armadale’s ritziest pockets.
The unrenovated 5-bedroom Federation home, on a large 856 square metre block in tree-lined Adelaide Street, is a hop skip and a jump to Glenneagles Homes High Street offices, on top of local drinking and dining institution Giorgios.
The Eagles will relocate from Malvern – in a home they built using the last ever prepared plans drawn up by renowned Melbourne architect, and Scotch College Boy, Wayne Gillespie.
Gillespie, whose peers heralded with introducing “lots of light and lots of sun” into Australian home designs, died in 2002 aged 42.
“We have been looking for the ideal site for our next family home and after missing out on a few other properties, we were relieved and excited to be back in Armadale,” Glenn Eagles told Secret Agent.
Prior to setting up house in Malvern, the Eagles lived on Mercer Road, the next street from Adelaide Street, in a large French Provincial home Glenneagles built.
“As much as we love our Malvern home now, we are very happy to have bought in Armadale and we plan to build another wonderful home on the property.”
Bennison Mackinnon director Peter Bennison and Tim Bennison marketed the Adelaide Street property.
