Ever imagined what it would be like to live in an area once connected with Melbourne’s underworld? You might not have to wait long with a Brunswick development site once owned by fugitive drug dealer Tony Mokbel being put to the market this month. Agents expect it will make way for a large residential redevelopment.
The Breese Road site, near the Anstey train station, is the latest in a string of Mokbel’s assets administrators are selling. It follows the $481,000 sale last week of an investment property Mokbel owned in Canberra Street, also in Brunswick. Developers have flocked to the suburb this year, with the former Tip Top Bakery building in Edward Street, and another large land parcel in Linden Street expected to make way for medium density apartments.
