David Craven Leaves Green Building Council for Woods Bagot

Architect Woods Bagot has poached former Green Building Council Victorian executive director David Craven to head its new sustainability division.

Mr Craven, who is a trained architect, worked with the State Government and the GBC for seven years and contributed to its Green Star rating system for office buildings and its coming rating system for shopping centres. He worked closely with Robin Mellon, executive director of the Green Star rating tool, who remains with the GBC.

Mr Craven said he was keen to provide "input and influence" into many new projects, saying growth in demand for sustainable buildings and workplaces had boomed in the past 12 to 18 months.

"Sustainable design has gone from being a niche area of expertise used in a small percentage of buildings, to being now adopted in a significant number of major projects - pretty much everything now," he said.

Woods Bagot became a carbon neutral company globally in 2006.
