While the Spring Racing Carnival is considered one of the Melbourne’s best events to schmooze interstate and international guests, directors at one of city’s biggest commercial agencies found a way to bring Melbourne’s equine mania, to Sydney Harbour.
Opting against taking the public holiday, Colliers international’s top operators including chief executive officer John Marasco leased the Sydney Opera House forecourt on Tuesday, to entertain a group of more than 400 Sydney-based property players who didn’t make the trek to Flemington.
Guests included Macquarie Office Trust chairman Simon Jones, Investa executive Michael Cook and ING CEO Tina Tanfara.
“The lack of live trackside action wasn’t an issue,” Mr Marasco told Capital Gain. “The races ran live on screen and an exclusive TAB was set up in the marquee, along with a live band and comedian who kept the punters entertained throughout the day.”
