CBRE and prominent selling agent Martin O'Sullivan have fought back at mounting speculation they have separated, after a 16-month relationship.
Well-placed sources say Mr O'Sullivan has resigned, but a statement released by the agency yesterday says his employment is continuing, and that he is expected back at the CBRE Melbourne headquarters at the Rialto building on Collins Street soon.
Mr O'Sullivan cited personal reasons for starting a surprise leave of absence last month.
In a short conversation with Capital Gain, he confirmed he had taken a back seat at the agency but also reiterated it was not a resignation.
But rumours persist, with one source going so far as to bet Capital Gain cash that Mr O'Sul-livan will be employed elsewhere by August.
CBRE claims the tall poppy syndrome is at play, accusing competitors of spreading false gossip.
