Minister for Ageing Justine Elliot MP officially opened Australian Unity’s $25 million Victoria Grange Aged Care facility in Wantirna South this week.

AU group executive retirement living services Derek McMillan says the population of people aged more than 85 in the municipalities of Whitehorse, Monash, Knox and Maroondah, is more than double the Victorian average.

He said one of the appeals of its new 100-place facility is that residents can choose and modify the level of care and service they need, without having to face a major move later in life. The facility includes a dedicated wing for residents with dementia.

Last week it was reported Becton Property Group plans to build a $54 million medium density retirement community on the former Reg Hunt Holden site in East Malvern.
