The Austereo Group will fork out more than $15 million fitting out its new 3000 square metre offices in Clarendon Street, in a move that will make the building the most advanced radio studio in the world.

A spokesman for the group – which controls media brands Fox FM and Triple M – says listeners will notice a “huge difference” in the quality of sound they are broadcast, once the station migrates to digital radio format on January 1.

Woods Bagot head of interiors Amanda York, who’s design tender was chosen by Austereo, said the company needed to project a “state of the art, stylish and professional image” while incorporating the latest broadcast equipment for today and in the future.

Austereo confirmed it will sub-let its prominent black 180 St Kilda Road office building, after it vacates the site at the end of the year. It still has a long-term lease over the property and its famous rooftop.
