REIQ wins Consumer Protection Award |

The Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) has won a 2007 Queensland Consumer Protection Award.
The REIQ was today named the winner of the TradeSmart Award for its successful accredited agency campaign.
The Office of Fair Trading awards - which have three categories - recognise achievement by individuals and organisations in promoting consumer protection.
"The REIQ is very proud to have won the 2007 TradeSmart Consumer Protection Award for our accredited agency campaign," REIQ managing director Dan Molloy said.
Mr Molloy said the REIQ embarked upon the accredited agency initiative to raise the bar for the real estate industry across the State ensuring professional standards were upheld, widely recognised and publicly acknowledged.
"Professionalism and best practice are values long advocated by the REIQ, and the focus of the accredited agency program was on setting industry benchmarks and providing consumers with choice," he said.
"REIQ accredited agencies are identifiable by their use of the REIQ accreditation logo that displays the current year. This is reissued annually, but only after the agency has successfully completed Continuing Professional Development and has been re-accredited.
"The REIQ accredited agency logo is a visual safeguard to help consumers make informed and confident choices."
Fair Trading Minister Margaret Keech announced the 2007 Consumer Protection Awards at a Parliament House winners' ceremony today.
"These awards recognise some of the most innovative programs in Queensland aimed at promoting the rights of Queensland customers," Mrs Keech said.
"They are all about rewarding those who go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to consumer protection."
