Best vying for State's top awards |

Real estate agencies big and small, residential and commercial, as well as agents new and established are vying for the State's most prestigious property awards.
More real estate professionals now have the opportunity to be recognised by their peers with the 2008 Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) Awards for Excellence expanded to better reflect the industry's diversity.
"This year we are making a number of changes to our award categories to better reflect our membership base and provide agencies and individual's greater opportunity to demonstrate excellence in their industry speciality," REIQ managing director Dan Molloy said.
The changes bring the number of awards on offer to 12 with one of the major changes being the creation of two residential Agency of the Year awards - one for a large agency and one for a small agency that employs less than 10 people.
"This change recognises the differences in operational activities between large agencies and small boutique agencies. It also aims to encourage smaller agencies to enter the awards so that their accomplishments and exceptional customer service can be recognised," Mr Molloy said.
Other new 2008 REIQ Awards for Excellence categories are:
- Commercial Agency of the Year;
- Commercial Salesperson of the Year;
- Commercial Property Manager of the Year;
- Buyers Agent of the Year; and
- Community Service Award.
These new categories are in addition to the existing awards of:
- Residential Salesperson of the Year;
- Residential Property Manager of the Year;
- Business Broker of the Year;
- Auctioneer of the Year; and
- Achievement or Rookie of the Year.
The REIQ 2008 Awards for Excellence are not about having the most number of properties sold, or the highest dollar value. The award criterion relates to commitment to quality customer service, significant achievements, how success has been achieved, and any innovative methods used to realise personal and business objectives.
Nominations close on 2 November 2007 with the winners announced at the REIQ Celebrating Real Estate gala function at the Hilton Hotel on 29 February 2008.
