Crown Casino executives say they don’t yet know which river promenade restaurant will have to “f*ck off” to make way for swearing celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who plans to open a restaurant in Melbourne later this year.

Ramsay, who’s show Kitchen Nightmares has become a surprise ratings winner for Channel Nine, will make a reality TV show about the experience of opening, and running a restaurant – with a site in the Crown complex, his first pick from the menu.

Crown Casino spokesman Gary O’Neill said it is very keen on the project, which will feature Crown and the Melbourne CBD as its backdrop and be screened globally.

He stressed talks with Ramsay and Channel Nine are still at the exploratory stage, and that it was too early to speculate any further details.

Last year, fellow Brit chef Jamie Oliver filmed a reality TV show around the launch of a restaurant, Fifteen, in George Parade, between the Grant Hyatt Melbourne hotel and 101 Collins Street.
