An as yet undisclosed purchaser is believed to have broken the record for a house price in South Yarra.

Sources say the mansion at 226 Walsh Street, once home to entrepreneur Lloyd Williams, has sold for mroe than $10 million.

The property, which sits on Domain Hill and is a block from the Royal Botanic Gardens, includes six bedrooms (five with ensuite), a four car garage, flood-lit tennis court and in-ground swimming pool. There’s even a separate entrance that could be used as a teenager’s entrance, or staff quarters.

It may not be the first time the stately mansion has broken a price record. It is reputed the home was the first to smash past the $1 million price point, when it was sold 20 years ago. The property was sold again in 2000 to Mackay Resort Developments director Andrew Mackay for around $4 million.

Kay & Burton sales executive Michael Gibson sold the property with Gerald Delany. Both declined to comment when contacted by Secret Agent.
