Former Cremorne Gardens Amusement Park in Richmond set to Become Apartments |

Visitors to the launch of the Era apartment project in Richmond's southern tip of Cremorne this week, were treated to a history lesson by well known historian Dr Mimi Colligan.
The site was once home to the Cremorne Gardens amusement park, Australia's first fairground, which ran from Balmain Street to the Yarra River. At it's peak in the 1860s, the suburb, now swallowed by Richmond, had it's own railway line, gas works, theatre and dancing menagerie.
The world's first 8 hour day march - which forms part of the early history for the celebration of Labour Day - was held at the site, as was Australia's first hot air balloon.
Tucked in behind the Nylex clock, the site is being developed into a ten storey office and residential project by Plus Architecture - a collaboration of award winning SJB and Fender Katsalidis architecture practices.
About 35 of the 140 apartments of the Era project remain for sale. Apartments provide residents with access to a gym, lap pool, business centre, media centre, club lounge and barbecue, and include a central garden of around 1000 square metres.
