2010 to be Year of the Residential Rent Rise as Landlords Pass Interest Rate Rises to Renters

Rising population growth, interest rates and taxes, and a temporary low supply of stock, will also support rent rises, the paper reports.

APM economist Matthew Bell expects an 11 per cent rise in rents to affect the Perth market, putting inline with the average 12.4 per cent rate of growth, experienced since 2003.

Brisbane rents should lift 8 per cent, APM estimates.

The Australian reports landlords have “remained soft” so far this month in regard to rent rises. January is typically the busiest month for the rental market, it’s reported.
